Beirut Arab University Commencement Ceremonies 2008/2009
Beirut Arab University organized a series of commencement ceremonies
during June, 2009.The first was the 5th Commencement Ceremony of the
Jurisdiction of Medicine during which 25 specialised doctors graduated
under the patronage of the Minister of Public Health Dr. Mohammad Jawad
Khalifeh. This ceremony took place on June 22nd at Jamal Abdul Nasser
Hall and was attended by the directors of the five Lebanese Hospitals
which are the official training medical institutions of the graduates.
The second was the 46th Commencement Ceremony of the
Faculties of Architectural Engineering, Engineering and Sciences which
graduated 615 students on June 25th. This ceremony was held for the
first time on Debbieh premises and was attended by the Lebanese
President General Michel Sleiman represented by the Minister of Higher
Education Mrs. Bahia Al Hariri, the Lebanese House Speaker Mr. Nabih
Birri represented by MP Dr. Hashem Kassem, the Lebanese Prime Minister
Mr. Fouad Saniora represented by Minister Dr. Khaled Kabbani, MP Dr.
Ammar Houri representing MP Sheikh Saadeddine Al Hariri and other
official, educational and social personalities. During the ceremony,
Beirut Arab University awarded Dr. Ismail Serageldine, the Director of
Bibliotheca Alexandria (Library of Alexandria), an Honorary Doctorate
for his achievements. This Honorary Doctorate is the second offered by
Beirut Arab University after the Ex-Lebanese Prime Minister the Martyr
Sheikh Rafic Al Hariri.
The third Commencement Ceremony occurred on June 28th
in Beirut Campus where 803 students graduated from the Faculties of
Arts, Law and Political Sciences, Commerce and Business Administration,
Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences. The Ceremony was
attended by several educational, academic and social personalities and
was marked by the graduation of the first class of Nursing students.
