First: Local and International Cooperation

Beirut Arab University has shown a great interest in strengthening the relations of academic cooperation with the local and international institutions concerned with higher education. This is crystal clear in the establishment of a special department for research projects and international cooperation – Coordinator of International Cooperation and Research Projects. The best form of academic cooperation is manifested in the unprecedented response of Alexandria University to both visiting and on secondment Faculty members’ needs at BAU which added more stability and consistency to the teaching process.
 

- Exposure to the other Lebanese Universities
 

BAU holds a significant rank among the other universities and institutions in Lebanon and thus cares for consolidating the relations of cooperation with these universities through conducting meetings with their administrators in order to strengthen the students’ opportunities in training and job seeking, through interacting with the professional unions, conducting lectures, collaborating in scientific committees, and attending the annual meetings of the deans of the analogous faculties.
 

Some activities are:
1-BAU’s President’s visit to the other Lebanese universities’ Presidents in an attempt to seek new paths of cooperation and enhancement of the relations along the academic year
2-Attending all of the meetings of the League of the Lebanese Universities as an active and founding member who shared in the election of the members of the Committee Board of Directors in which BAU took over the tasks of the Secretariat of the Fund
3-Collaborating in conducting and organizing several conferences and meetings with the Lebanese University and the other significant private universities
4- Cooperating with most of the Lebanese universities in the field of scientific research

- Interacting with Local Organisations and International Universities and Institutions

1-Cooperation with the National Council for Scientific Research in Lebanon and BAU’S participation in the Council’s specialised committees
2-Cooperation between the university and the Cultural Bureau in the American Embassy which led to several meetings with the students in Beirut and Debbieh campuses offering scholarship programmes for both graduate and postgraduate degrees
3-Cooperation with the Cultural Bureau in the French Embassy to add to the Language Centre activities concerning the French Language and attending the Bureau’s all-year-long activities
4-Cooperation and coordination with Al Fikr Al Arabi Institution for the development and activation of the scientific activities and the Arab culture
5-Collaboration and coordination with the ministries and the professional unions on various occasions and meetings that serve all professions and specialisations
6-Participation in the meetings of the regional office of the World Health Organisation to develop a strategy entitled Country Cooperation Strategies CCS

7- Cooperation with the Agency of Francophone Universities AUF
a. Participation in the Francophone Conference of the Presidents of Universities (CONFREMO) in the Middle East
b. Participation in the orientation exhibition of the francophone universities
c. Participation in the General Assembly of the francophone universities

- Cooperation with the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI):
1. Attending the General Assembly of the Euro-Mediterranean University - EMUNI and participating in the election of the President, Deputies and the Executive Board

2. Nominating BAU as the only Arab university which offers the summer courses presented by the Euro-Mediterranean University through the offering of the Islamic Architecture course as the first academic programme in the summer school 2009

3. The collaboration of 14 universities in 9 countries in the events of the First Research Market organized by EMUNI. The event is embodied in the form of a mono-axial conference regularly conducted in different countries via video conferencing where researches and discussions are exchanged

Second: Agreements

Beirut Arab University has signed a lot of agreements between 2007 and 2009 such as the agreements with Rafic Al Hariri Governmental Hospital, The Military Hospital, Al Makassid, Hammoud, Al Sahel, Dar Al Ajazah Al Islamiah and Al Zahraa Hospitals to train senior students, graduate and postgraduate doctors under specialization and resident doctors in the Faculty of Medicine at BAU in the different majors to be able to acquire both professional and clinical skills.

1. An agreement with the Committee of Atomic Energy signed in Vienna in 2007 in order to offer the Diploma in Physical Radiation in the Faculty of Science

2. An agreement with the EMUNI University signed on 29/10/2008 to establish cooperation in the fields of human and academic resources development and to support and enhance the networks of scientific cooperation among universities

3. An agreement with the Lebanese University signed on 16/1/1009 to establish scientific, cultural and educational cooperation between both universities

4. An agreement with the Agency of Francophone Universities signed on 23/1/2009 to organize training courses for the university employees in the field of informatics via the Linux system

5. An exceptional agreement with the National Council for Research CNRS which approves the participation of the Egyptian professors in the research programmes offered by the Council and the opportunity to benefit from the financial support to these programmes

6. A special agreement concerned with the delegation of professors from Province University – X Marseille I to the Department of French Language and Literature at BAU signed on 15/5/2009 as an adjunct to a previously founded agreement on the common scientific fields between both universities

7. A memorandum for understanding between Al Hariri Foundation represented by her excellence Bahia Al Hariri and Al Makassid Philanthropic Islamic Association in Saida represented by its President Mr. Mohammad Raji El Bsat and Bairut Arab University represented by its President Professor Amr Gala El Adawi signed on 3/6/2009 to establish a branch for the Faculty of Health Sciences in Saida
