Moroccan Ambassador Lectured on the Political Constant and Variable at BAU

16 November 2017 Beirut Arab University hosted a lecture presented by the Moroccan Ambassador to Lebanon H.E. Mohammad Karine, under the title "The Transformation of Morocco between the Constant and the Variable" at Beirut campus in the presence of a distinguished crowd of diplomats, politicians and military figures, BAU family, students and interested audience.
After the Lebanese Anthem and the BAU Anthem, the lecture was opened by Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science, Professor Mohamed Kassem, representing BAU President, Professor Amr Galal El-Adawi. In his speech, Professor Kassem recalled student life and the experience of Arab Nationalism, hoping crises would come to an end and the Arab world restore its unity.
Professor Kassem introduced the Moroccan Ambassador, focusing on his political and intellectual experience which, according to Kassem, must be followed as an ideal due to his commitment to Arabism and, at the same time, its distinction with new and modern marks at the level of political work.
Ambassador Karine thanked the university for hosting the lecture and then tackled Morocco's internal policy, pointing out that the reforms managed to keep the Kingdom of Morocco from being dragged into the illusion of the Arab Spring. He believes the Arab world, today and more than ever, needs openness, respect and acceptance of the other, calling for taking advantage of the small details that distinguish the Arabs without exaggerating or giving the impression of negative differences  so as not to suffer hatred, antagonism and seclusion.
Ambassador Karine also spoke of the relationship between Lebanon and Morocco, pointing out that it is a relationship of friendship and brotherhood that will grow stronger and firmer over time.
After a discussion with the audience, the event ended with granting the Moroccan Ambassador BAU’s Honorary Shield.
