Course Description

Bleeding in early pregnancy: abortion, ectopic pregnancy, vesicular mole. Bleeding in late pregnancy: accidental hemorrhage, placenta Previa, vasa. Previa and incidental hemorrhage. Hyperemesis gravidarum. High-risk pregnancy. Pregnancy on top of IUCD. Prenatal diagnosis of fetal abnormalities.Hormonal, irradiation and chemotherapeutic drug exposure in pregnancy. Common fetal anomalies.Preterm labour and hazards of prematurity. Post-term labour and hazards of postmaturity. Fetal growth disorders: small for gestional age and large gestional age. Premature rupture of the membrane and chorioamniotis. Oligohydraminos and polyhydraminos. Intrauterine fetal death. Alloimmunication in pregnancy: rhesus and other red cell antigens. Multiple pregnancies. Dystocia, abnormal uterine action and obstructed labour. Abnormal fetal presentation and position L occipito-posterior, face and brow, breech presentation, shoulder, cord presentation and prolapse, complex presentation. Contracted pelvis and cephalopelvic disproportion. Postpartum hemorrhage. Other complications of the third stage of labour. Obstetric and fetal birth injuries. Neonatal respiratory distress and neonatal resuscitation. Puerperal sepsis and puerperal pyrexia.
