Breaking a new record, our senior student Alaa Abdallah published two articles during her BSc. Studies in the Physics department, under the supervision of Professor Ramadan Awad. These articles entitled: “Preparation, Characterization, and Application of Nickel Oxide Nanoparticles in Glucose and Lactose Biosensors” and “Study of the Structural and Physical Properties of Co3O4 Nanoparticles Synthesized by Co-Precipitation Method” where published in “Journal of Modern Applied Science”-2019 and “Journal of Superconductivity and Novel Magnetism”-2019, respectively.
The first article focuses on the application of Nickel oxide nanoparticles as a non-enzymatic glucose and lactose biosensor, and the second one sheds light on the structural, morphological, optical, electrical and dielectrical properties of Cobalt oxide nanoparticles.
The nanoparticles were synthesized via the co-precipitation technique, and they were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Transmission electron microscope, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Energy dispersive X-ray, Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, Photoluminescence spectroscopy, and Vibrating sample magnetometer. The results assured the formation of pure NiO and Co3O4 nanoparticles as they showed a ferromagnetic nature at room temperature.
