Dr. Adel Elkordi is currently the Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Beirut Arab University and a Professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. He received his BS and MS degrees from Alexandria University in 1977 and 1983 respectively. In 1988, he completed his PhD in Civil Engineering at Alexandria University and Imperial College University of London. His academic career began in 1977 as a Research Student/Assistant/Fellow, in the Structural Engineering Department at Alexandria University. He then took a permanent position as an Associate Professor / Professor in Civil Engineering at Alexandria University in 1993 and 1998 respectively. In 2005 he became the Executive Manager of the Engineering Center in Alexandria University and in 2006 he was the Vice Dean of Engineering for Development and Environment Affairs and in 2009 he became the Dean of Engineering, Alexandria University. Between 2009 and 2011 he was the Engineering Consultant of the President, the Chairman of the board of Engineering Center, the Scientific Computing unit and the Production Engineering Unit of Alexandria University. Professor Elkordi published widely and contributed to the development of the Egyptian Standard and the Egyptian code in the field of construction materials. Areas of research specialism include novel Construction materials, Quality control and inspection of building and evaluation of concrete strength, Renovation and rehabilitation of concrete structures.
