Kamel Bou-Hamdan

Assistant Professor

Dr. Kamel Bou Hamdan completed his PhD in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Aberdeen, UK in 2019. His research topic was focused on investigating the interaction between proppants and rocks in hydraulic fracturing of shale gas rocks. He obtained a BE in Power and Control Engineering from Beirut Arab University in 2011 followed by an MSc in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot-Watt University in 2012.

In 2014, Dr. Kamel became involved in academia when he first joined the petroleum engineering department at Beirut Arab University. From 2016 and until the end of 2018, he worked as a part-time Lab Assistant for the petroleum engineering department at the University of Aberdeen while pursuing his PhD. In 2019, he rejoined Beirut Arab University and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department. 

In addition to that, Dr. Kamel has been actively contributing within the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). He was selected as a judge for the SPE Student Chapter Award in 2017 and the SPE Section Award in 2019. Furthermore, he was appointed as a member of the editorial board for the SPE magazine "The Way Ahead (TWA)" in 2019.
