Sobhi Abou Chahine

Dr. Sobhi Abou Chahine received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Beirut Arab University (BAU), Lebanon, in 1987, the D.E.A. degree in microwave and optics from ENSERG, Polytechnical National Institute of Grenoble (INPG), France, in 1990, and the Ph.D. degree in electronics and communications from the National Superior Institute of Telecommunications (ENST), Paris, France, in 1994.
He joined Beirut Arab University (BAU) in 1994, where he is currently a Professor in the Electrical & Computer Engineering and the dean of student affairs. His research interest is in the field of microwave instrumentation, Propagation, communications and antennas.
He is member of three committees at the ministry of education and higher education:
Member of the technical committee since 2002: Licensing and audit of higher education Institutions (Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and higher Education).
Member of the Equivalence committee since 2010: Validation and recognition of higher education academic degrees (Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and higher Education).
Member of the Equivalence Committee since 2013: Recognition and equivalence of degrees and courses (Directorate General of Vocational and Technical Education)
He participated in many international projects relevant to higher education reform and quality assurance.
Dr Abou Chahine participated in 2014 and 2015 with the HCERES as international expert in the evaluation of French higher education institutions.
In addition, Professor Abou Chahine was an advisor of the minister of Education and Higher Education between 2010 and 2014.
