Assistant Dean Rami L. Abbas, Associate Professor of physical therapy. He graduated with a BSc in physical therapy from Lebanese University – Faculty of Public Health in 1994. He earned his MSc in physical therapy in 1999, and his PhD in 2011 from Cairo University – Faculty of Physical Therapy. Dr. Abbas have a strong clinical background where he worked as physical therapist in the physical therapy department at Makassed General Hospital in Beirut in 1994 till reaching the position of the head of the department from 2001 till 2011. He also started his teaching career in the Lebanese University from 2001 till 2011. In 2011, he was appointed at Beirut Arab University – Faculty of Health Sciences - Physical Therapy department. In 2013, he was also appointed as Assistant Dean for the Faculty of Health Sciences. Professionally, he was an elected member in the Order of Physical Therapists of Lebanon (OPTL), where he presided the scientific affairs committee 2005-2009, then Vice President of the OPTL 2009-2011. He was also appointed as the delegate of the OPTL in the Arabic Confederation for Physical Therapy 2006 – 2013. Currently, he is a member of the retirement board of OPTL. He is interested in rehabilitation research particularly in prevention, neurology, geriatrics, and disability. He also gave many lectures in physical therapy and medical congresses in Lebanon and abroad.

Teaching

I teach many courses in the physical therapy department. I use various contemporary methods of student particularly PBL and TBL in addition to lab demonstration and practical applications. Courses I teach are related to neurological rehabilitation sciences in addition to Assessment in PT, cardio respiratory PT, motor control, and differential diagnosis. I usually try my best to link best assessment methods to the course objectives as well as to the whole PT program outcomes.
