The concept of sustainability has evolved during the past few decades. This paper discusses the important relationship between higher education and sustainable development. Higher education aims to find new methods to deal with critical problems such as climate change, pollution, energy among others. Higher education and sustainable development Examine the possibility of adopting, planning, monitoring and evaluating the sector of higher education in order to have educated, innovative, and independent individuals. At the end of the paper, recommendations are proposed for better commitment of universities to sustainability concepts.
