Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Waqf Al-Bir wal-Ihsan | Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Beirut Arab University

Dr. Ammar Houry serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Waqf Al-Bir wal-Ihsan and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Beirut Arab University. A former Member of the Lebanese Parliament (2005–2018) and consultant to former Prime Minister Saad Al-Hariri, he has accumulated over three decades of institutional governance, public service, and legislative experience. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Dentistry from Cairo University (1981) and brings over 35 years of clinical practice as an oral and dental surgeon. His service to Beirut Arab University includes membership on its governing bodies and teaching dental ethics and legislation. Dr. Houri served as President of the Beirut Dentists League, Vice President of the Lebanese Dental Association, and a member of Beirut’s Municipal Council. He also held international leadership roles as President of the Lebanese and Asian Chess Federations and Executive Board Member of the International Chess Federation. Alongside his public career, Dr. Houry remains involved in humanitarian initiatives and is an author of published poetry and diverse studies.

Prof. Wael Nabil Abdel Salam has served as President of Beirut Arab University since September 2023, bringing extensive expertise as a professor of surgery, medical professional, and academic leader in higher education and healthcare administration. Prior to his appointment at BAU, he held key executive roles at Alexandria University as Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Head of the University Hospitals Sector. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBCh) in 1993, followed by a Master’s degree in Surgery in 1998 and an MD in Surgery in 2004 from Alexandria University. A Board Member of the Egyptian Society of Laparoscopic Surgery since 2014, he holds active memberships in the Egyptian Society of Surgeons, the Egyptian Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons, the Alexandria Endoscopy Association, the Egyptian Society for Bariatric Surgery, and the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery. In recognition of his contributions to medical advancement and institutional leadership, he was awarded the Egyptian Medical Syndicate Trophy in 2015.

Acting President of Alexandria University | Vice President for Education and Student Affairs at Alexandria University

Prof. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim serves as Acting President of Alexandria University and Vice President for Education and Student Affairs. A Professor of Prosthodontics and former Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Alexandria University, he plays an active role in national academic governance through membership on the License Approval Committee for Dental University Hospitals, the Administration of Internship Equivalency Committee at the Supreme Council of Universities, and the Higher Scientific Committee of the Egyptian Dental Board. Additionally, he serves on the Boards of Trustees of Bibliotheca Alexandrina and Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology. Internationally, he has served as North Africa Section Chair of the Pierre Fauchard Academy since 2016 and acts as Regent for the International College of Dentists for Egypt and Sudan and a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He actively contributes to scholarly publishing as an editorial board member and peer reviewer for leading international publishers of Q1 journals.

Prof. Ahmad Abdallah Zayed serves as Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. A renowned Professor of Sociology at Cairo University since 1991, he previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Cultural Attaché the Egyptian Embassy in Riyadh. His extensive academic career encompasses teaching across international and regional universities, supervising postgraduate research, and founding academic departments. With over 200 scholarly publications spanning books, peer-reviewed articles, and translations, his research explores sociology, modernity, national identity, and religious discourse, alongside regular cultural contributions to Al-Ahram. His distinguished contributions have been recognized with the State Appreciation Award in Social Sciences, the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Award for Humanities and Future Studies, and the Nile Award for Social Sciences.

President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport

Prof. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag serves as President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport. He brings extensive leadership in engineering education, academic administration, and research governance. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with honors from the Military Technical College in 1978, a Master’s from Cairo University in 1982, and a PhD in Computer Engineering from George Washington University in 1989. During his distinguished tenure at the Military Technical College, he served in key academic and executive roles culminating in his leadership as Commandant and Dean. Internationally, he serves on the Board of Governors of the World Maritime University in Sweden, leads the League of Arab States delegation to the International Maritime Organization Council in London, and chairs major global conferences on maritime transport, logistics, marine engineering, and sustainable development.

Secretary General of Beirut Arab University | Secretary of the University Council

Dr. Omar Houri has served as Secretary General of Beirut Arab University since 2015 and has been an Associate Professor of Law at Beirut Arab University since 2009. He earned his Bachelor of Law (LL.B.) from Beirut Arab University in 1994, followed by two LL.M. degrees—the first from Duke University School of Law (1996) and the second from Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, Germany (2001). He completed his PhD in Constitutional Law at Ludwig Maximilians University in 2004. An active member of the Lebanese Bar Association since 1995, Dr. Houri has authored numerous scholarly publications across Arabic, English, and German.

Professor of Criminal Law | Secretary of the Board of Trustees of Waqf Al-Bir wal-Ihsan

Prof. Fawzi Adham serves as Professor of Criminal Law at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at Beirut Arab University. A retired senior magistrate, former Head of the Criminal Court in Bekaa, and former Head of the Department of Penal Law at Beirut Arab University, Prof. Adham serves as the Secretary of the Board of Trustees of Waqf Al-Bir wal-Ihsan and as a member of the Board of Trustees of Beirut Arab University, representing Waqf Al-Bir wal-Ihsan. Additionally, he contributes to academic publishing as an Executive Editor of the BAU Journal of Legal Studies. His scholarly research and publications encompass criminal law, judicial procedures, human rights, and physicians’ criminal liability, effectively integrating deep courtroom experience with legal academia.

Pharmacist and Healthcare Management Executive | Deputy Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of Waqf Al-Bir wal-Ihsan

Dr. Ayman Toufic Houri is a pharmacist and healthcare management executive who has served on the Board of Trustees of Waqf Al-Bir wal-Ihsan since 2010, currently holding the position of Deputy Treasurer. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Beirut Arab University in 1994 and founded Wardieh Pharmacies in 1996, which he continues to direct. In addition to his pharmaceutical enterprise, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Nakib Hospital from 2018 to 2020 and has been a principal partner in Tasmim Group since 2011. His career integrates healthcare delivery and corporate leadership.

Mechanical Engineer

Dr. Samir R. Traboulsi is a mechanical engineer with extensive expertise in system dynamics, building services, and professional engineering education. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Beirut in 1973 and 1975, followed by an MBA in 1980, and completed postgraduate studies in System Dynamics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1990 before obtaining his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Beirut Arab University in 2011. His professional affiliations include ASHRAE, the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, the System Dynamics Society, the Lebanon Green Building Council, and the Order of Engineers and Architects in Beirut. A NEBB Certified Professional and ABET evaluator, he served as an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer, Secretary and Treasurer of the ASHRAE College of Fellows, and Executive Committee Member of the ASHRAE Life Members Club. His instructional experience spans the ASHRAE Global Training Center in Dubai and the Order of Engineers' Continuing Learning Department, alongside engineering consultancies for agricultural field development in Sierra Leone.
