  • Course Code: ARCH656
  • Credits: 2
  • Hours Distribution: 2Lec
  • Course Type: Program Elective Course (PEC)

Course Description

As the main interface between exterior and interior conditions and requirements, the building envelope has to fulfil a complex set of parameters, both physical and visual. Materials and com¬ponents interact, forming a highly adapted skin. Basic knowl¬edge of material properties, façade systems, detailing and assembly techniques, building physics, climatology and sustain¬ability gives rise to integral concepts for building envelopes. This module relates to the conception and robotic fabrication of a fa¬cade in the design studio project. Specific challenges in autom¬ated production of facade elements are highlighted.
