Course Description
The course includes a chronological survey of the visual arts as an expression of the
mind and culture of Western civilization from the Prehistoric period, through the Near Eastern, Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Early Christian, Jewish and Byzantine art; and Gothic, Renaissance (Italian and Northern), and Baroque Art and Architecture. The course is designed to help students increase their art historical vocabulary for discussing an art object’s medium, composition, style, and iconography.
