Course Description

This course includes lectures to teach theory, construction and manipulation of fixed appliances. This course introduces the student to the basic physical properties of orthodontic wires and force system, the subject of moments, couples, orthodontic tooth movement in the three planes of space. This course introduces the fundamental concepts for understanding both laws of mechanics and the typical tissue responses to force systems used in orthodontic appliances. In addition to hazards and complications of faulty use of the systems. Students will learn scientifically based biologically sound approaches to planning efficient orthodontic treatment.
