Course Description
This course enables students to understand that findings in dental practice are based on reliable evidence. The topics covered include different methods for data/results summarization in form of tables, graphs and charts, descriptive statistics, elementary probability, comparison of two-sample means and proportions, simple linear regression and correlation. Parametric and non-parametric methods are discussed. More advanced methods (multiple regression, analysis of variance, logistic regression) are briefly described, in addition to demonstrations for the use of Excel and SPSS programs to generate a database ready to statistical analysis. All phases of research process are drawn from real world dental situations and case studies.
