Course Description

The course provides the student with basic knowledge and skills that are involved in the diagnostic process and treatment planning. The course allows students to effectively communicate with patients and establish sound patient dentist relationship, undertake an appropriate systematic intra- and extra-oral clinical examination. The course covers various topics on the interviewing process, clinical examination methods and relevant aspects of the diagnostic tools employed in formulating an appropriate treatment plan. Also, recognizing the methods of prevention and management of medical and dental emergencies that could happen in dental office. In addition, it covers latest technologies used for digital imaging as cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and its application in various dental specialties and maxillofacial problems. Students are expected to complete their patient’s needs in a safe environment and apply basic standards of infection control.
