Course Description
Overview of the mechanical design process. Analytical concepts and tools for the design of machine elements. Failure theories. Design for strength under static and fatigue loading. Design for rigidity. Design of shafts. Design of non-permanent joints (fasteners and keys) and power screws. Design of permanent joints: rivets, welds and adhesive joints. Design of mechanical springs. Computer aided applications. Pre-req.: MCHE 201 and MCHE 311.
