Course Description
The course presents the process and skills of counseling. Students will learn, practice and develop counseling skills such as attending, reflecting, active listening and mirroring. Students will also reflect on their roles as counselors. They will refine the qualities, knowledge base and skills essential to become a competent, ethical, culturally aware counselor in training. Additional topics such as case management, service linkage, client empowerment and access to treatment will be included.
