Course Description

This course is designed to provide the students with a thorough theoretical knowledge and practices applied in assessing exposures to risks and its impacts on human health and environment. An overview of the general principles and concepts of environmental risk assessment and relevant mitigation procedures will be discussed. The course introduces the quantitative and qualitative tools that are applied in identifying environmental risk, designing an action plan by applying the basic risk assessment tools (i.e. prospective, retrospective and tiered approaches), and interpreting data through scientific methods. In addition, limitations and associated uncertainties of the applied protocols will be discussed. Practical: Experimental work testing the principles of green and sustainable chemistry.
