Course Description

The course introduces the students to the significance of applying green practices to the field of analytical analysis. The course offers insights into recent advances in green chemical analysis through procedures designed to make the analytical assessment methods greener, environmentally friendly, and safer to practitioners. Development of green analytical methods by minimizing the consumption of hazardous reagents and solvents, applying energy and time efficient protocols, and applying safe practices will be discussed through real world examples. In addition, analytical “greenness” measurement metrics such as the analytical method greenness score calculator and Analytical GREEnness metric approach (AGREE) will be presented. Pre-req.: CHEM 242.
