Science - Course - Physical Chemistry II

This course covers quantum mechanics including classical mechanical treatment of the simple harmonic oscillator, black body radiation, photoelectric effect, Compton’s effect, de Broglie relation, the Heisenberg uncertainty principal, derivation and solutions of Schrödinger equation for several simple systems with some chemical applications. Basic principles and concepts of photochemistry; Jablonski diagram; photochemical reaction kinetics and mechanisms. Pre-req.: CHEM 248.
