02 October 2026

The Human Rights Center at Beirut Arab University, in collaboration with the Union for the Protection of Juveniles in Lebanon (UPEL), organized an awareness session entitled “Protecting Juveniles in Lebanon: Between Law and Practice” for students of the Faculty of Law and Political Science.

The session addressed the legal framework governing juvenile protection in Lebanon, with particular focus on the role of juvenile representatives throughout the different stages of judicial proceedings, from preliminary investigations to court hearings and follow-up measures aimed at protecting juveniles at risk.

The discussion also examined the role of lawyers in juvenile cases and the importance of complementarity between legal representation and the social and protective role of juvenile representatives. The session aimed to bridge legal knowledge and practice while strengthening students’ understanding of the juvenile justice system and the protection of children’s rights.
