Evaluation of the results of arthroscopic repair of recurrent traumatic anterior dislocation of the shoulder
Abstract
Recurrent anterior traumatic shoulder dislocation is the most common type of glenohumeral instability. It results in functional disability of the patients in terms of both shoulder function and general status. The clinical presentation may have many forms ranging from obvious fixed dislocation secondary to trauma to relatively vague symptoms of shoulder dysfunction such as pain or a sense of instability with certain positions of the joint. On examination, shoulder stability can be evaluated by translation tests, and patient’s apprehension can be reproduced by specific provocative tests. Radiological imaging starts with plain radiography and proceeds to MRI or MR arthrography.
