The President of Beirut Arab University, Professor Amr Galal El-Adawi, launched the Health Care Center “Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services” in Beirut campus under the Patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Firas Al-Abiad, represented by Mr. Omar Al-Koush. The ceremony was attended by The President of the University Board of Trustees, Dr. Ammar Houry, Vice-Presidents, Deans of faculties, Secretary-General, Dr. Omar Houri, Presidents of Orders, University Presidents, hospital directors, and a crowd of interested people.
The Health Care Center at Beirut Arab University (BAUHC) provides high-quality and affordable diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitation and preventive services, including diagnostic medical laboratory, diagnostic imaging center, physiological diagnostic center, outpatient physical therapy clinics (PTOC) in affordable prices.
The ceremony started with the Lebanese national anthem and the University anthem, then the ceremony master, Ms. Rima Chehab, said “In these difficult circumstances, and based on the University’s pioneering role in serving the surrounding community, we are convinced of the need to promote these social and human values among our students and motivate them to serve as an example of solidarity for the best of the future of this country, this center opened its doors thanks to the initiative of Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.
The President of the University, Professor Amr Galal El-Adawi, said: “The Health Care Center was established a few years ago by opening the medical clinics and was then supplemented with departments related to diagnostic treatment and therapeutic services, such as laboratories and radiology. We also thank Khalifa Bin Zayed Foundation for providing us with equipments”.
El-Adawi continued “This center was established specifically to serve the community, especially since Lebanon is witnessing a phase of deterioration in health care. For this reason, we must establish all medical and diagnostic services to serve the people of this country. The University is keen to provide these high quality services to all segments of society in appropriate prices. It is worth mentioning that the center has its own management that is independent of the university where it plays its role far from the educational process”.
Professor El-Adawi concluded by thanking all those who had contributed to the establishing and completing the Centre, in particular the dear friend Minister Dr. Firas Al-Abiad.
Then, His Excellency Dr. Firas Al-Abiad, Minister of Health, represented by Mr. Omar Al Koush said “Emphasizing on the pivotal role and unlimited support of the Ministry of Public Health and its tireless endeavors to mobilize the public health sector in Lebanon through several means such as the establishment of a network of health-care centers and support them with the necessary medical and health assistance. The ministry also recognizes the role of civil society and civil, social, cultural and scientific institutions in assisting and actively participating with the State in addressing health problems.
Al Koush continued: “We thank the President, Professor Amr Galal El-Adawi, for the great efforts made towards not only giving in the scientific and cultural areas, but also because it was extended to giving in the field of health.”
At the end, the attendees toured the Center and its departments, out-patient clinics and laboratories.
