Beirut Arab University students showcased their talents at the 18th edition of the IBDAA competition hosted at AUB’s Nature Conservation Center on 25th of April. Competing against teams from 11 Lebanese universities, comprising 320 students across 110 teams, they won the FIRST and SECOND PRIZES in the Research with Innovation Category.
The Faculty of Engineering team won the FIRST PRIZE for their project entitled “AI-Driven RF Detection of Solutes in Water”. The winning team consisting of Engineers: Hafez Al Khatib, Sarah Ibrahim, Nour Alhouda Hajir, and Habib El Rahman Shouman, demonstrated outstanding skills and innovation. Their remarkable achievement was made possible under the supervision of Dr. Manal K. Fattoum and Dr. Ziad Doughan, assistant professors at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.
The Health Sciences Faculty team won the SECOND PRIZE for their project entitled “Removal of Contaminants from Water Using Tomato Leaves as Adsorbent”, under the supervision of Dr. Nada El Darra, Chairperson and Associate Professor at the Nutrition and Dietetics department. The winning team consisting of Layan Helmi, Maria Alayli, and Maram Al Bakri demonstrated a project that addresses real-world environmental challenges. This success not only reflects their hard work but also exemplifies the excellence of the university's scientific academic programs.
