Cooperation Agreement between Beirut Arab University And Markaz Islami

Beirut Arab University, represented by its President, Prof. Wael Nabil Abdel Salam, signed a cooperation agreement with the President of Markaz Islami of Aisha Bakar, represented by Engineer Ali Noureddine Assaf, for a period of one year aiming to train students of the Faculty of Health Sciences in the field of physical therapy in accordance with the laws governing its work.

The delegation of Markaz Islami started its visit to the headquarters of Wakf El Bir Wal Ihsan, where the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and the Chairman of BAU Board of Trustees, Dr. Ammar Houry and the members of the board: Secretary, Judge Fawzi Adham, Mr. Fouad Fleifel and Judge Talal Beydoun received them.

The agreement was then signed in the presence of the Secretary General of the University, Dr. Omar Houri, and members of the administrative board of Markaz Islami, Ambassador Hisham Dimashkieh, Dr. Abdel Rahman Al-Hout, Dr. Mohammed Al Nafi, Lawyer Hussein Masalkhi, Mr. Ahmad Knio, Mr. Riad El Solh, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Professor Rajaa Fakhouri, Assistant Dean Dr. Rami Abbas, and the Head of Physical Therapy Department Professor Ibtissam Saab.

The agreement stipulates that professionals in physiotherapy shall be raised to be able, upon completion of their training, to carry out physical therapy sessions for inpatients at the Center. The Center also shall benefit from the medical services of BAU Health Care Center, radiology, various diagnostic laboratories and the dental clinics.

The agreement includes establishing cooperation relationships in the cultural and social fields and developing the society through organizing joint events, workshops and cultural and social exchange programs that aims to promote mutual understanding and deepens cultural relations.

During the signing ceremony, Dr. Ammar Houry said: “praising this agreement and its importance between the two distinctive bodies and the great value it holds in cooperation between these institutions, which shall have a great impact on our society and thus cooperation with other institutions shall be followed.”

 The President of the University, Prof. Wael Nabil Abdel Salam, talked about the University's constant commitment towards the society and noted that this cooperation will be achieved in several areas. This training shall be positively reflected on our students as well, the university is seeking to establish a university hospital.”

In his turn, the President of Markaz Islami, Engineer Ali Noureddine Assaf, thanked the University for this agreement mentioning that “because of such cooperation, it demonstrates the University's keenness to communicate with the civil society and serve it.”

After signing the agreement, the delegation visited the University's health care and physiotherapy centers.
