Beirut Arab University represented by its President Professor Wael Nabil Abdel Salam, has signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding with the Salloum Humanitarian Foundation, represented by its President Mr. Ibrahim Salloum. The agreement aims to provide university scholarships to students enrolled at the university’s Bekaa branch, within a joint program based on academic merit and financial need.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Secretary General of the University Dr. Omar Houri, Dean of Academic Affairs and International Relations Professor Sobhi Abou Chahine, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Yehia Temsah, Dean of the Faculty of Science Professor Ghassan Younes, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration Professor Mohamed Abou El-Naga, President of Alumni Association at Beirut Arab University-Bekaa Branch Mr. Turki Araji, along with members of the association, and a delegation from the Salloum Humanitarian Foundation.
The MoU stipulates expanding youth access to university education and mitigating the financial barriers that may hinder the completion of their academic journeys. This will be achieved through a cooperation mechanism that ensures transparency and fairness in selecting beneficiaries.
Furthermore, the agreement includes collaborating to identify students eligible to benefit from the program, sharing the necessary data to monitor students' academic standing, preparing periodic reports and evaluating the impact of the initiative on the beneficiaries, launching joint introductory and awareness campaigns to publicize the scholarship program and its application mechanisms, thereby reaching the largest possible number of deserving students.
Both parties affirmed that this partnership represents a strategic step reflecting their shared commitment to supporting education and empowering youth by investing in human capability development and enhancing access to knowledge.
They also emphasized the importance of this cooperation in contributing to sustainable development and reinforcing the principles of social justice by providing a supportive environment for learning and growth.
