Under the patronage of the President of Beirut Arab University, Professor Wael Nabil Abdel Salam, and in his specialization as a Professor of General Surgery, Laparoscopic, Liver and Pancreatic Surgery, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Professor Mahmoud Mahfouz, a workshop on laparoscopic and obesity surgeries was held at Beirut Arab University in cooperation with Al-Raee Hospital in Saida.
The professors who also participated in the lectures were Professor Sameh Sadeq, Professor Mohammad Mazloum and Professor Hatem Al-Wajih, from the Faculty of Medicine, along with Dr. Nasser Hammoud, Dr. Haitham Al-Fawwal, Dr. Mahmoud Basho, Dr. Bassem Skaf and Dr. Ghida Radwan, in the presence of specialist doctors and trainees in the Department of General Surgery, and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This workshop included laparoscopic and bariatric surgeries.
Professor Abdel Salam pointed out the importance of establishing a training program for advanced laparoscopic surgeries and transferring expertise to specialist doctors. He also pointed out that the laparoscopic surgery has several positives for patients with these cases in terms of rapid recovery, pain relief, and avoiding traditional surgical procedures.
