The Faculty strengthened its strategic academic and research capacity through a newly signed three-year memorandum of cooperation between BAU and the National Council for Scientific Research – Lebanese Atomic Energy Commission (LAEC). This agreement directly supports the Faculty by:
- Providing Faculty postgraduate students with access to LAEC laboratories to conduct advanced research for Master’s and PhD theses in fields such as physics, chemistry, and medical physics.
- Launching a specialized Diploma in “Radiation Protection Officer” in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), with plans for regional accreditation.
- Developing a new diploma in safety and security for chemists, targeting professionals in industries, ports, emergency response, and security sectors
- Engaging LAEC researchers in teaching and supervision, enhancing the Faculty’s academic offerings and applied training
- Strengthening the capabilities of the Environmental Analysis and Consultancy Unit (EACU) through access to technical expertise and targeted training.
- Establishing a radiation monitoring lab at Tripoli campus, contributing to the national radiation surveillance program and expanding the Faculty’s applied research infrastructure.
This partnership builds on a history of successful collaboration and reinforces the Faculty’s commitment to high-impact research, academic excellence, and national development in critical scientific fields.
