The present study investigated the antifungal effects of red cabbage (Brassica oleracea). The methanolic and aqueous extracts of the plant were tested against Fusarium sp., Botrytis sp. and Candida sp.. Using the well diffusion method, the bioactivities of the prepared extracts were proved against the two molds, while they had no effect against the tested yeast. MIC and MFC were determined for the methanolic extract, which was the most potent bioactive extract. The combined action of fluconazole and the methanolic extract increased the fungicidal effect of the drug. Moreover, time kill study and examination using transmission electron microscope of the treated molds with methanolic extract revealed the fungicidal potency of Brassica oleracea.
