  • The deadline of admission to the postgraduate programs for the Spring semester 2023-2024 is Sunday Decemebr 31, 2023.
  • The language entrance exams place and time will be declared later.
  • Graduates applying for Diploma, or DPT programs are not required to sit for the language entrance exam.
  • Students will be evaluated based on their Bachelor (if applying to a Master program) and Master (if applying to a PhD program) Cumulative GPA (CGPA), a personal interview and an English proficiency test or its equivalent.
  • The Graduate Admission Application fee is 30 $, paid either on campus or with the first installment of the Spring Semester tuition fees.

The following required documents should be uploaded within the application process:

General Documents

If you are applying to the Faculty of Dentistry, then you need to upload the following documents:

  • National Colloquium Examination
  • Advanced Clinical Training program Certificate / 3 years experience

If you are applying to the Faculty of Architecture-Design & Built Environment or Engineering, then you need to upload the following document:

  • Work Permit

If you are applying to the Faculty of Medicine, or Health Sciences then you need to upload the following document:

  • National Colloquium Examination

If you are applying for a PhD Program, then you need to upload the following additional documents:

  • Master's Degree certificate
  • Master's Degree transcript
  • Master's Thesis
  • Equivalence of the Master's Degree
  • Applicants holding a Bachelor Degree (for those applying to a Master program) and a Master Degree (for those applying to a PhD program), from Beirut Arab University or from any other recognized university, are admitted into the graduate programs (Master or PhD) if they have attained the minimum required cumulative GPA, fulfilled the language requirements, as determined by the respective Faculty, and have submitted all the required documents. Students are granted full acceptance in the graduate program after the approval of the Faculty.
  • Applicants should fulfill the relevant academic entry requirements for each program at BAU.
  • Non- BAU applicants must prove their English Language proficiency by sitting for a placement test conducted by the University or by obtaining a minimum score on any of the equivalent tests shown in the table below.

English is the language of instruction in all BAU’s Faculties except for the Faculties of Human Sciences where the language of instruction depends on the nature of the course(s). Applicants must provide evidence of their English language proficiency when applying to programs set in English.

BAU English Language Admission Exam 60%

BAU English Language Admission Exam is one of the tests approved by BAU when assessing candidates for admission. The exam will be conducted at BAU campus prior to the beginning of the Spring semester 2021 – 2022. You can visit our website for regular updates.

Applicants to any of the graduate Diplomas must hold a Bachelor Degree obtained from BAU or any other recognized university.

Applicants for the Master program must:

  • Hold a Bachelor Degree obtained from Beirut Arab University or any other recognized university if applying to the Faculty of Human Sciences and the Faculty of Law & Political. In addition to the Bachelor Degree , applicants to the Scientific and Medical Faculties and the Faculty of Business Administration must also have a minimum CGPA of 2.33, or its equivalence in the case of the full academic year system.
  • Successfully pass an English language exam held by the University and scoring no less than 60% or getting a minimum score of “520” in TOFEL or “5.5” in IELTS (for the Scientific and Medical Faculties and the Faculty of Business Administration). In case a student scored between 50 –59 %, then he/she has to successfully pass an English course to improve his/her proficiency.
  • Successfully pass a language exam in accordance with the language of instruction at the Faculty of Human Sciences, which will be conducted at BAU prior to the beginning of the Spring semester 2021– 2022. For updates, please visit BAU website.
  • Successfully pass a personal interview at the Faculty of Human Sciences, if you are a non-BAU student and applying to the Faculty of Human Sciences.
  • Successfully pass a personal interview at the concerned department at the Faculty of Law and Political Science, if applying to this Faculty.
  • The personal interviews will be conducted at BAU campus prior to the beginning of the Spring semester 2021 – 2022
  • BAU Graduates are exempted from the language exam.
  • Applicants for the Master Program at the Faculty of Medicine require the completion of one year in a hospital residency program in the same proposed field of the specialization.
  • The Faculty Council, upon the approval of the University Council, may accept the enrolment of a student for a Master’s degree in a major different from his/her undergraduate major, provided that the student completes a number of complementary courses, that are equivalent to no less than 15 credit hours and do not exceed 24.
  • In case more than five years have elapsed since the student has attained his/her first undergraduate degree, the student has to sit for an exam in the field of specialization or for a personal interview to evaluate his/her academic level and the familiarity with up-to-date information in the field of specialization.

The Faculties of Humanities

  • To be accepted in the PhD program at one of the Faculties of Humanities, the student must hold a Master degree from BAU or an equivalent degree from an officially recognized University, with a general grade of no less than 73%, for the academic year system, or a CGPA of no less than 2.33 in the courses attained, provided that the degree qualifies the student to pursue a PhD.
  • Students should successfully pass a language exam in accordance with the language of instruction at the Faculty of Human Sciences, which will be conducted at BAU prior to the beginning of the Spring 2021 – 2022 semester. For updates, please visit BAU website.
  • When applying to the Faculty of Human Sciences, non-BAU students must also pass a personal interview which will be conducted at BAU campus prior to the beginning of the Spring semester 2021– 2022.
  • Students applying to the Faculty of Law and Political Science, should pass a personal interview at the concerned department at the Faculty.
  • The personal interviews will be conducted at BAU campus prior to the beginning of the Spring semester 2021– 2022

The Scientific Faculties, the Medical Faculties and the Faculty of Business Administration

  • To be accepted in the PhD program at one of the Scientific or Medical Faculties, or the Faculty of Business Administration, the student must hold a Master’s degree from BAU or an equivalent degree from an officially recognized university, with a general grade of no less than 80%, for the academic year system, or a CGPA of no less than 3.00 in the course-work, for the credit hour system, for the Master’s degree. The Faculty council has the right to reconsider the acceptance of students who scored no less than 76%, for the academic year system, or a CGPA of no less than 2.67, for the credit hour system, upon the successful completion of the GRE or the GMAT exam according to the concerned Faculty, or upon conducting an interview at the relevant department.
  • Students with a specialized or vocational Master’s degree may be accepted in the PhD program, provided that the CGPA condition in the relevant Faculty is fulfilled, with the possibility of asking them to complete a number of complementary courses, upon the recommendation of the relevant department and the approval of the Faculty Council.
  • BAU Master Graduates are exempted from the language exam.
  • Students should successfully pass an English language exam held by the University and scoring no less than 60% or getting a minimum score of “520” in TOFEL or “5.5” in IELTS (for the Scientific and Medical Faculties and the Faculty of Business Administration). In case a student scored between 50 – 59 %, then he/she has to successfully pass an English course to improve his/her proficiency.
  • Students applying for the DBA program at the Faculty of Business Administration, should pass a personal interview at the Faculty.
  • The personal interviews will be conducted at BAU campus prior to the beginning of the Spring semester 2021– 2022
  • Applicants for the PHD Degree at the Faculty of Medicine require the completion of three years in a hospital residency program in the same proposed field of specialization.
  • In case more than five years have elapsed since the student has attained his/her Master’s degree, the student has to sit for an interview with a scientific committee, at the concerned Faculty, to evaluate his/her academic level and the familiarity with up-to-date information in the field of specialization.

Important Notes:

Students applying for the Faculty of dentistry will have to sit for a practical exam, in the required specialization, that will be conducted at BAU prior to the beginning of the Spring semester 2021– 2022. For updates, please visit BAU website.

Transfer

Based on the proposal of the Department and the recommendation of the Faculty Council, in coordination with the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Research, and upon the approval of the University Council, it is allowed to transfer courses that the student has previously studied and succeeded in, at any other recognized universities according to the following conditions:

  • The transferred courses should be equivalent to the courses of the relevant program and are required to get the degree according to the rules that govern courses transfer.
  • The student has already passed these courses with a minimum of “C+” or its percentage equivalent in the yearly system.
  • The total number of credit hours of the transferred courses should not exceed 30% of the total credit hours for courses needed to obtain the degree.
  • It is not allowed to transfer courses that the student has studied at another recognized university more than 5 years ago.
