  • Specific Objective:

    The main objectives of the project are:

    1. To establish an organizational structure and bylaws for the proposed LEPAC,
    2. To establish a draft of accreditation criteria,
    3. To establish a draft of accreditation procedures,
    4. To train Lebanese accreditation specialists,
    5. To be a consultant to the Lebanese Ministry of HE and the Orders of Engineers for the equivalency of the international Engineering Degrees, and
    6. To identify and classify EPs.

    Principal Outcomes:

    • Seminar I: Six European experts will present Engineering Programs Accreditation related issues at the first Seminar that is to be held in Beirut and it is planned for a 3-day event that will cover the following topics:
      • Administrative Structures
      • Functioning Committees
      • Accreditation Procedures
      • Financial Issues
      • Case Studies
    • Seminar II: Six European experts will present Engineering Program Accreditation related issues at the second Seminar that is to be held in Beirut and it is planned for a 3-day event that will cover the following topics:
      • Engineering Education Standards
      • Accreditation Criteria
      • Assessment and Quality Assurance
      • Engineering Education Trends in Europe
      • Case Studies
    • Roundtable Discussion: After Seminar II, the Steering Committee will organize a 1-day roundtable meeting for the exchange of ideas on the topics brought up in both seminars.
    • Training Visit: The European partners will organize visits to Europe (3 days in France and 2 days in Germany) for 8 selected Lebanese Experts for the exchange of information and experiences.
    • Final General Meeting: The Technical Committee shall present to the Steering Committee the final refined and tuned plan of the LEPAC. The meeting shall wrap-up and the final approval by Steering Committee shall be granted to the plan for the legislation procedure. This general meeting is a 2 day event that will be held in At this meeting all SC and TC members will be present.
    • Steering Committee Meeting I: The Steering Committee will hold its 1st meeting in Beirut to discuss and define the detail timetable and the objectives of the project. This meeting is a 1-day event.
    • Steering Committee Meeting II: A 2nd Steering Committee (SC) meeting will be held in France for one day to create the Technical Committee (TC) and to assign its tasks and duties to achieve the project's objectives. The TC will be chaired by a President and a Vice-President who are SC members.
    • Steering Committee Meeting III: The 3rd Steering Committee (SC) meeting is a 1-day event that will be held in Belgium to discuss the Technical Committee (TC) mid-project progress report and to provide the TC with the final comments and recommendations.
    • Technical Committee Meeting I: The first Technical Committee (TC) meeting is a 1-day event that will be held in Beirut to distribute detail tasks onto its members and to create an execution plan to meet the project's objectives. The Grant coordinator, two European partners (as the President and Vice-President of the TC), and the Lebanese partners are de-facto members of the TC.
    • Technical Committee Meeting II: The second Technical Committee (TC) meeting is a 1-day event that will be held in Beirut to discuss the project's progress and to follow up on the partners’ recommendations and to submit a mid-project progress report to the Steering Committee (SC).
    • Technical Committee Meeting III: The third Technical Committee (TC) meeting is a 1-day event that will be held in Beirut to discuss the project's progress and to follow up on the partners’ recommendations. In this meeting the TC should prepare to present the project’s outcome to the final general meeting to be held in Beirut.
