Dear Students, Esteemed Faculty, and Beloved BAU Family,

As we stand at the threshold of a new academic year, I want to warmly welcome each of you back to Beirut Arab University, and extend a special welcome to our incoming class. Stepping into university life takes courage and ambition, and we are so proud to watch your journey begin as part of our BAU family.

Looking back, we cannot ignore how painful and overwhelming the past year was. We lived through the harsh reality of war and uncertainty. As a surgeon, I spent my career in operating rooms where life hangs in the balance, learning that true healing means holding steady, trusting the process, and believing in recovery even in the hardest moments.

Now, as a fresh season begins, we look forward with strength and purpose. We are accelerating our transition toward renewable energy and sustainability, turning our campuses into green sanctuaries for our future. We are directing our research toward real human needs to heal and uplift our society, while deepening our hands-on service and care for our surrounding communities.

To our faculty and staff, thank you for being the steady anchor our university relies on. To our community, BAU remains your faithful partner. And to all our students, your resilience inspires me every day.

Let us step into this new year together, guided by hope, compassion, and shared purpose.

With my warmest wishes for a peaceful and inspiring year ahead,

Professor Wael Nabil Abdel Salam
President, Beirut Arab University
