The National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS) of Lebanon hosted the Regional Workshop, Train-the-Trainer Event and Lectures for Students at the Lebanese Atomic Energy Commission (LAEC) on 27-29 October, 2014. The workshop, referred to as CBRN-CoE Project 31, was organized by the Center for Excellence of the European Union and aimed at establishing a “Network of universities and institutes for raising awareness on dual-use concerns of chemical materials”. Prof. Ghassan Younes, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Science, attended the opening day of the workshop, while Prof. Ramadan Awad (Chairperson of the Physics Department), and Dr. Mohammad El-Dakdouki (Chemistry Department) joined Prof. Younes on the second day. The Faculty of Science at BAU hosted the workshop on its third day where Dr. Antonio Della Guardia lectured on the “Concept of Dual Use Chemicals”, while Dr. Alastair Hay illustrated the significance of “Controlling Chemical Use”. Faculty members, teaching assistants, graduate and undergraduate students at the Faculty of Science attended the workshop.
