To experience what it would be like to be a student at BAU and to explore the university life, 75 high school students from the schools of Al Makassed Philanthropic Islamic Association of Beirut, namely, Khaled Bin Walid School, Omar Bin Al Khattab School and Ali Bin Abi Taleb School, along with members of Makassed parents committee, visited our beautiful Debbieh campus on Saturday, February 8, 2020.
The day started in Omar Houri Hall with a briefing about BAU faculties, majors, accreditations, admission requirements, scholarships, financial aid and a look into the university life. Then, the students went into a guided tour to the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Built Environment, followed by the Faculty of Science and finally to the Faculty of Engineering. They explored the academic departments of each faculty, met with the faculty staff and students, got advised on the newly offered degree programs that meet with today’s market needs, and visited the faculty laboratories and facilities.
This visit shedded the light on many important questions such as: “what to major in?” “Following that major degree, what type of career can you pursue?” and “why at BAU”. It gave students and families a clear perspective of what is ahead, along with a strong overview of academic expectations, so they will be better prepared to meet the challenges of university life and make the right choices. The visit ended with a bus tour over the BAU astronomical observatory, the gymnasium and the student housing facilities.
