SGPA / CGPA

The Grade Point Average (GPA) is used to measure students' academic performance.

  • SGPA (Semester GPA):  Measures a student's academic performance during a specific semester.
  • CGPA (Cumulative GPA):  Represents the student's overall academic performance across all completed semesters.

Degree Requirement

Students should meet with their academic advisor each semester to review their academic record, monitor their progress, and ensure that they are on track to meet their program and graduation requirements.

To be eligible for graduation, students must:

  • Complete all required courses.
  • Earn the required number of credit hours.
  • Achieve a minimum Cumulative GPA (CGPA) of 2.0.
  • Fulfill all program-specific academic requirements.
  • Consult with their academic advisor to confirm graduation eligibility.
  • Submit the graduation application and required documents by the announced deadline.

Graduation with Honors:

Students who achieve a CGPA of 3.67 or above and meet the University's honors criteria may graduate with Honors.

Academic probation

Starting from the second semester, students with CGPA below 2.00 will receive an Academic Probation and be placed on academic probation. Students on probation may register for up to 12 credit hours in the following semester.

Students receiving two consecutive academic Probations may be subject to dismissal.

Internal Transfer:

  • Submit Change of Major Request: The student submits a request to the Admissions Office after fulfilling the required signatures.
  • Entrance Examination (if applicable): Depending on the requirements, the student may be required to take an entrance exam.
  • Faculty Review and Approval: The request is reviewed and approved by the relevant faculty/academic department.

Attendance:

Attendance is an essential part of the academic process. Students are expected to attend their scheduled classes and comply with the University’s attendance requirements throughout the semester.

  • 10% absence: First academic warning.
  • 15% absence: Second academic warning.
  • More than 25% absence: The student may be prohibited from taking the final examination and receive an “AW” (Automatic Withdrawal) grade.

An “AW” grade does not count toward the calculation of the SGPA or CGPA

Drop, Add, and Withdrawal:

Students may add or drop courses in accordance with university procedures and deadlines. For course withdrawal, the applicable tuition fee percentage is determined by the date of withdrawal. Students should refer to the table below to identify the applicable fee percentage based on the withdrawal week.

Fall & Spring Semester Withdrawal %
Week 3 20%
Week 4 30 %
Week 5 50 %
Starting of Week 6 100 %
Summer Semester Withdrawal %
Week 2 25%
Week 3 40 %
Week 4 50 %
Starting of Week 5 100 %

Enrollment Suspension (Leave of Absence):

Students may request to suspend their enrollment for one or two academic semesters, whether consecutive or non-consecutive, by submitting a Leave of Absence Form.

If the approved suspension period is exceeded, the student must apply for re-enrollment, subject to the approval of the University Council upon the recommendation of the relevant Faculty Council.

Students whose suspension exceeds five years may be asked for an assessment interview/exam. In such cases, up to 50% of the earned credit hours may be transferred, in accordance with the applicable University regulations.

Course Assessment and Examination Guidelines

  • Continuous Assessment (60%):  Includes assignments, quizzes, midterms, and projects completed throughout the semester.
  • Final Examination (40%):  Administered at the end of the semester in coordination with the Registrar’s Office to evaluate students’ overall understanding of the course material.
  • Incomplete Grade ("I"):  Students unable to take a final exam for an accepted reason may request an "I" grade within one week of the exam, subject to necessary approvals and a minimum 75% attendance. All outstanding requirements must then be completed by the end of the first week of the following semester, or the grade will automatically convert to an "F".
  • Exam Grade Review:  Students may request a review of their exam grade calculation within one week of results being announced, subject to applicable fees.
