Biography

Dr. Fatima Belok is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Built Environment at Beirut Arab University, Tripoli Campus. She was also appointed Junior Ambassador of the Jacques Rougerie Foundation in Lebanon for 2026. She holds a PhD in Architecture, specializing in kinetic and parametric design, computational design, adaptive architecture, and digital fabrication. Her interests also include parametric furniture design. She has received several international awards in architecture and furniture design and has organized and participated in international workshops on parametric design, both in person and online.²

Research Interests

My research interests include kinetic and parametric architecture, computational design, adaptive facades, and digital fabrication, focusing on environmental performance and visual comfort. I also explore digital fabrication in architectural education, AI integration in design teaching, parametric furniture design and fabrication, and the contemporary reinterpretation of Arabesque patterns through kinetic systems and innovative fabrication techniques.

Education & Qualifications

PhD in Architecture (2020), focusing on kinetic facades and adaptive architecture in response to daylighting. Master’s degree in Architecture (2016) and Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (2014). Specialized in kinetic and parametric design, computational modeling, and adaptive architectural systems. Experienced in using Rhino and Grasshopper for parametric modeling, form generation, and the development of architectural solutions. Familiar with computational design tools, including LunchBox, Weaverbird, and Kangaroo, for exploring complex geometries, responsive facades and shading systems.

Teaching Areas

Architectural Design and Design Studio, Parametric and Computational Design, Kinetic Architecture, Rhino and Grasshopper Modeling, Digital Fabrication, Parametric Furniture Design, Adaptive Facades and Environmental Design, Shape Grammar, and Generative Design. Teaching interests also include the integration of digital design tools into architectural education, exploring the relationship between geometry, and digital fabrication.
