The Physical Chemistry Research Laboratory aims to meet the increasing demands of our postgraduate students at the faculty of science as well as other faculties at BAU or any other university. This laboratory is characterized by the large machines and specialized instrumentation that provide the researchers the chance to test and analyze materials. Students have the opportunity to learn a wide range of techniques on state-of-the art instrumentation. These factors continue to fuel workforce demand for talented and well-trained physical chemists in the public and private sectors alike.
Infrastructure of the Laboratory
Potentiostat-frequency response analyzers (ACM instrument and Invium instrument), Electropolishing Machine, Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-VIS) Spectrophotometer, as well as thermostated water bath and balance.
Applications
The Laboratory is important for encouraging new scientific developments in multi-scale computational modeling, it supports research in the fields of:
- Electrochemistry such as potentiometric, thermodynamic and kinetic studies of organic and inorganic reactions in different solvents,
- Chemical adsorption
- Corrosion protection
- Determination of drug in pharmaceutical tablets
- Synthesis, biological activity and characterization of coordination complexes and polymers, Supra-molecular and micro-porous materials.
- Theoretical calculations and experimental studies of organic and inorganic compounds.
