In response to an invitation extended by the Ministry of Information in the United Arab Emirates, and an invitation extended by the Ministry of Radio and Television in Sharja, Prof. Hassaan Hallak, professor of history at BAU, together with a group of major Arab historians, participated in a televised seminar on Sharja Television. The seminar was entitled “The Rewriting of Arab and Islamic History”, and “A Study of the Problematic of Arab and Islamic History”, and focused on the factors influencing the writing of history and the factors influencing the Arab historian. It was concluded that the historian requires freedom and democracy before needing documents, sources and historical manuscripts.
At the end, the seminar commended the importance of studying Arab and Islamic history in its various phases, as well as the need for a documented and in-depth study for the rewriting of this history, to purify it of all impurities that have impacted its course.
