Dr. Laila Helmi, Assistant Professor at the English Department, Faculty of Arts, attended the International Conference on “The Voices of Suspense and their Translation in Thrillers”, which was held in Madrid – Spain, on 18th and 19th October 2012. Dr. Helmi presented a paper entitled "Resonant Voices: The Illocutionary Reconstruction of Suspense in the Translation of Dialogue". The conference was attended by a number of researchers, translation scholars and students from a variety of nationalities, amongst whom Dr. Helmi was the only Arab participant.
