Medicinal Chemistry Junior Research Team in Dubai
11 April 2015Sciences acquisition and authorisation is limitless. In the context of improving research skills of Medicinal Chemistry Junior Research Team and developing their sense of innovation, assistant prof. Doaa Issa nominated six students from 4th and 5th level to attend with her accompany a computer aided drug design workshop.
The students received a three-day training in Bioinformatics & Drug Discovery Technology in Radisson Hotel from April 9 to 11, 2015 including the following topics: Sequence Alignments, Homology Modelling, Protein Domain Analysis, In-Silico Generation of Ligands, Protein optimization, Energy Minimization, and Molecular Docking.
Students found this chance as a challenge to raise the name of their institution and enrich the pharmaceutical chemical society with reliable and valuable publications. They implemented what they learned in poster presentation in international conferences and they were preparing for publishing in reputable journals.
‘The trip was interesting and beneficial to me in acquiring skills and learning recent technologies in drug discovery. I hope I will be selected next year to participate in another scientific trip’ quoted a 4th level student.
‘I believe that this trip helped a lot in developing the students’ research skills and although it was a three day training yet students gained the required knowledge and skills and achieved the objective of this scientific journey through their poster presentation in LAAS conference ‘quoted Dr. Doaa Issa
