Pharmacovigilance and patient safety overview workshop

The Faculty of Pharmacy, in partnership with Boehringer Ingelheim, organized a workshop on Pharmacovigilance for its 5th  level students. The workshop that was entitled “Pharmacovigilance and patient safety overview” aimed at raising awareness on patient safety and the role of pharmaceutical companies in ensuring it. The workshop was led by Dr. Ahmed Salama, regional pharmacovigilance Manager for LINEA countries, Boehringer Ingelheim. Dr. Salama started by highlighting the need for drug therapy monitoring using some lessons learned from history. He continued by defining Pharmacovigilance, its scope, its cycle, its importance for patient safety as well as its usefulness for pharmaceutical companies.
The workshop ended with an open discussion where both students, Faculty, and Boehringer representatives shared their views in this regard.
