As part of the ongoing partnership between the Faculty of Pharmacy at Beirut Arab University (BAU) and the esteemed Mount Lebanon Hospital Balamand University Medical Center, a site visit was conducted on September 13, 2024 to further enhance the training of pharmacy students and strengthen the collaboration between both institutions. This collaboration aims to provide invaluable hands-on experience in a tertiary healthcare setting while fostering opportunities for research partnership.
The visit, led by Prof. Abdalla El-Lakany, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, accompanied by Dr. Hanadi Jazi, Faculty Executive Administrator, and Dr. Rania Itani, Pharmacy Practice Experience V/VI Coordinator, aimed to ensure that students were receiving an optimal training experience. The focus of the visit was to confirm that students were actively engaged in medical rounds with healthcare professionals across various hospital units, optimizing treatment practices and patient care.
The students' training was closely supervised by Dr. Patricia Shuhaiber, Clinical and Quality Pharmacy Manager at Mount Lebanon Hospital, and Dr. Mohamad Abdallah, Faculty Preceptor. During the visit, Dr. Shuhaiber provided Prof. El-Lakany with valuable feedback on the students' performance in the medical wards, commended their dedication, and suggested strategies for further enhancing their educational experience. Additionally, the Dean visited the units where students are allocated, allowing them to elaborate on their daily workflows and share both the opportunities and challenges they encounter during their training.
