About
Dr. May Saab received her B.S. degree in Pharmacy from Beirut Arab University in 2003 and a Master degree in pharmaceutical technology in 2009. Based on her high academic performance she was granted a Ph.D. degree scholarship from BAU in pharmaceutical technology in 2010. She joined the faculty of pharmacy at BAU as part time teaching assistant in 2003, and then as a lecturer in 2009, and assistant professor in 2016. Dr. Saab has over 10 years of experience as a laboratory instructor of pharmaceutics, drug dosage forms, principles and kinetics of drug stability, biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics, and over 5 years of experience as a lecturer in pharmaceutical calculations and hospital pharmacy. Since 2016, Dr. Saab started delivering undergraduate courses relevant to Pharmaceutical Technology Department, including, drug dosage forms, drug delivery systems and cosme-pharmaceuticals, in addition to postgraduate courses such as natural polymers in drug delivery. Moreover, she has contributed in the development and the delivery of one of the pharmacy practice courses that involves the drug storage and distribution practices and patient education. Dr. Saab has supervised many PharmD thesis, and master thesis in pharmaceutical technology. - She is a member in the scientific committee at the Order of Pharmacists of Lebanon since 2017. She is also a member in the pharmacy colloquium committee at the ministry of education and higher education since 2016. She served as the assistant dean from the year 2021 to 2026, and she currently serves as the head of pharmaceutical technology department and the quality assurance unit director.
Her research interests cover the field of polymer-based and modified release drug delivery systems and nanotechnology. She has published several research articles in the field of sustained/controlled and gastroretentive drug delivery systems, solid dispersions and nanoemulsions.

- An active member in the “Pharmacy Colloquium Committee” at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (since 2016 till this date); as a member in the Lebanese colloquium committee of pharmacy, I Prepare and edit written pharmacy colloquium exams, and deliver orientation sessions for BAU pharmacy seniors for oral colloquium exams.

- An active member in the technical committee of “Libnor”, the Lebanese standards institution affiliated to the ministry of industry. The current activities include revising and updating standards and specifications for Follow- Up Formula intended for infants from 6 to 12 months and for young children from 1 to 3 years of age. 2025 till this date.
- Presenting a lecture entitled: “Curriculum Review: Process and Outcomes” in the Annual Lebanese Pharmacy Schools Symposium “United in action: Pharmacy education and practice advancement” on February 17 2024.
- Active participation in the workshop “Pharmacy: solutions for the sector and future vision” as a representative for the Faculty of Pharmacy at BAU, delivering a session entitled: “National Pharmacist Qualification Framework. 27 May 2023.
- Interview on Radio Liban Station during Panorama episode to talk about drug storage and expiry dates, and highlighting on the best storage conditions of pharmaceutical products and the importance of adherence to the expiry date with an emphasis on specific medications (4th June 2022).
- Participation in an online focus group on 26/1/22, to discuss individual resilience among academic faculty in pharmacy educational institutions in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) that was endorsed by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP)
- Interview on radio delta about Tomooh program for scholarship, with an emphasis on academic and career advise for students (June 2021)
- Contributing in the process of storing the pharmaceuticals within the appropriate storage conditions and dispensing medications to the community within BAUHC Pharmacy (2020)
- Taking the initiative in the manufacturing of hand sanitizers to supply the shortage in hospitals and health centers during Covid 19 outbreak and to provide it to all BAU staff members to maximize the precaution measures against this pandemic (2020)
