Aiming at recognition and accreditation, the faculty seeks assistance from the international agencies which provide a structured mechanism to assess, evaluate, and improve the program quality. Moreover, the accreditation of the program ensures that this program meets the international quality standards, helps students and their parents choose a quality program, enables employers to recruit well-prepared graduates, increases competitiveness of accredited units, facilitates international recognition and is an important factor in credit transfer from/to other universities.
The Faculty of Dentistry received a visit from the Association of Dental Education in Europe (ADEE) from 27th to 30th of April 2014 by a panel of international peers from different European centres of dental education with different backgrounds and perspectives.
This peer review site visit was based on a self-assessment document prepared for ADEE that was appreciated and described by the ADEE team to be of high standard, clear and exhaustive.
In April 2015 the Faculty of Dentistry was enrolled in LEADER SCHOOL PROGRAMME “THE DENTAL EDUCATION EXCELLENCE PROGRAMME”.
The LEADER Excellence Programme is a continuous quality improvement initiative designed by the Association for Dental Education in Europe that provides contextually appropriate guidance on the development of meaningful quality improvement structures within participating dental schools.
Recently, the Faculty of Dentistry received a follow up focus school visit from the Association of Dental Education in Europe (ADEE) from 17th to 18th of November 2016. This peer review site visit (Year 3, LEADER School Programme) was based on a new self-assessment document 2016 (Year 2 update self-assessment report).
The ADEE LEADER site visit report indicated that:
“The Faculty is beyond no doubt the flagship of dental education of the country and certainly meets the standards of many schools in Europe, also that the Faculty seems to be on the right track to provide high quality dental education at all levels not only today but also in the future.”
