Participation in “Breast Cancer: From Awareness to Action” Symposium.

On October 20, Dr. Rawad Hayouk, Clinical Lecturer at the Pharmacy Practice Department, represented the Faculty of Pharmacy as a panel speaker at the scientific symposium “Breast Cancer: From Awareness to Action,” organized by the Faculty of Medicine at BAU.

The event brought together healthcare professionals from different disciplines to discuss breast cancer awareness, treatment, and patient care. The panel connected clinical knowledge with accessible health education through an interactive discussion.

Dr. Hayouk’s contribution focused on adjuvant drug therapy in breast cancer, highlighting how disease stage and tumor characteristics guide medication selection. He discussed the appropriate timing of treatment after surgery, clinical situations requiring avoidance or modification of specific medications, and the individualized duration of endocrine therapy. The discussion also addressed the roles of chemotherapy, targeted therapies, and immunotherapy in eligible patients.

Participation in this event reflected the Faculty of Pharmacy’s commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, patient education, and community engagement. By contributing pharmaceutical expertise to a public-facing scientific discussion, the Faculty supported greater understanding of breast cancer treatment and the importance of informed, individualized care.
