The Deanship of Graduate Studies and Research at BAU hosted an insightful seminar entitled "Where to Publish" on Friday, January 31st, 2025, in Ali Rashed Hall, Beirut campus. The seminar was presented by Professor Hania Nakkash, Dean of Graduate Studies and Research at BAU, with the participation of around 70 attendees, from Faculty members and PhD students.
The seminar aimed to address critical aspects of the academic publishing landscape, providing attendees with practical guidance on navigating the complexities of journal selection and publication and the importance of abiding by the BAU journal list sent to Faculty members as a reference when selecting journals to publish their work. Key topics discussed included recommended journal metrics, a comparison between the Scopus and Clarivate Analytics databases, means to identify and avoid predatory and hijacked journals, and highlights of key ideas and requirements for PhD students.
Presented in an interactive way, the workshop encouraged active participation and discussion, enabling attendees to gain valuable insights into the intricacies of academic publishing. The seminar also addressed academic publishing challenges and offered practical advice on identifying indexed journals and avoiding predatory and hijacked journals. Dean Nakkash catered to all participants' questions, ensuring a productive and engaging experience for all.
The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback, reflecting Beirut Arab University's commitment to fostering research excellence and supporting its academic community.
