Description of Subtheme:
The world today lives in the information age, and the cutting-edge for any society is to become an information society. It has, therefore, become essential to make contributions to this sector of research. Topics in this subtheme will focus on three main dimensions: information literacy in education, in the workplace and in the community. Students and researchers are encouraged to explore topics such as digital literacy, information resources, the role of libraries and librarians, among others.
Research topics in this field include a study on “Digital evolution and its importance in the preservation of cultural heritage”. The study pointed out the importance of cultural heritage, and the ways to collect and preserve it. In addition, the role of technological development and Internet in the digitization process of this heritage was examined. After that, the study pointed out the problems of digitization and its advantages, as well as the international and global initiatives that have contributed in this regard.
The study also includes studies such as “The impact of university libraries in the institutional accreditation: Case Study”. Given that universities focus nowadays on institutional accreditation as one of the excellence factors at all levels. This particular paper pointed out the accreditation factors and conditions investigated at Beirut Arab University that was accredited by the German Accreditation Body “FIBAA” in 2015. The importance of academic library in institutional accreditation process was also shown in this study. In conclusion, academic libraries play a key role in the institutional accreditation process.
