Description of Subtheme:
The Faculty of Engineering conducts research that has relevance to lean management with a mission of practicing continuous and successive experimentation to accomplish optimal or perfect value with zero waste. For example, some research is concerned with optimization of operation and service systems, project and construction management, and resource management optimization. This can have a positive impact on minimizing waste and maximizing value. Several research topics currently being tackled by researchers in the faculty of engineering fall under this theme. Examples of these topics are listed here below:
- Optimizing of operation and service systems focuses on providing value to the suppliers and customers.
- Applying lean management of manufacturing-related problems involves quality control production process and looking into applicable technological changes.
- Designing of project and construction management including cost and control, risk management, sustainable construction practices, and the integration of emerging technologies.
- Using ergonomics related topics that influence behavior at work and can affect health and safety.
- Optimizing of resource management
Researchers at the Faculty of Engineering show their interest in these topics by conducting research and reporting the outcomes in prestigious international and national journals, magazines, symposia, conferences, and meetings. Many publications were reported during the last two years.
