Cryptography and cybersecurity contribute to creating a secure and trustworthy environment for individuals, businesses, and governments, thereby supporting peace, justice, and strong institutions. By implementing robust algorithms and measures, cities can safeguard data integrity, confidentiality, and availability, and in turn can contribute to the advancement of sustainable cities and communities. Furthermore, cryptography and cybersecurity indirectly relate to quality education (SDG4) by protecting education records and online learning platforms), and industry innovation and infrastructure (by securing digital infrastructure.

Science and Technology

Description of Subtheme:

Cryptography and Blockchain are two technologies that have the potential to revolutionize many industries, including finance, healthcare, and supply chain management. Applications of Cryptography include secure communication, digital signatures, and authentication.  Blockchain is the underlying technology behind crypto currencies such as Bitcoin.

Cryptography and Blockchain are two important topics relevant to research due to their critical role in ensuring the security, privacy, trust, scalability, and efficiency of data. By advancing the knowledge and understanding of cryptographic techniques within the context of blockchain, researchers can contribute to the development of secure and robust decentralized applications with far-reaching implications for various industries.

Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting computer systems, networks, and data from digital threats and unauthorized access. It encompasses a range of technologies, processes, and measures to safeguard information and ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of digital assets.
